A FINE PAINTED WOOD PAIR OF DOORS

Each door-panel is carved in relief with fifteen rectangular cartouches separated from each other by a broad rim sculpted with scrolling tendrils, each small panel is decorated with an erotic scene, the upper sections carved with a similarly scrolling tendril design, some metal rings attached to the front, the reverse undecorated and equipped with a wood lock.
According to the present owner, this pair of doors once belonged to the inventory of a palace of the last Maharaja of the Sik, Duleep Singh (1838-1893)
